Accessibility Statement

Effective date: January 1, 2024  ·  Minnesota Hoarding Task Force

Our Commitment

The Minnesota Hoarding Task Force is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to all people, including individuals with disabilities. We strive to meet or exceed the requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

We believe that everyone deserves equal access to information and resources, and we continually work to improve the accessibility and usability of our website.

Measures We Have Taken

To support accessibility, we have implemented the following on our website:

  • Semantic HTML structure with proper heading hierarchy to support screen readers
  • Descriptive alternative text for all meaningful images
  • Sufficient color contrast ratios between text and background colors
  • Keyboard navigability for all interactive elements, including menus, forms, and buttons
  • Visible focus indicators so keyboard users can track their position on the page
  • ARIA labels and roles on complex interface components
  • Responsive design that adapts to different screen sizes and zoom levels
  • Forms with clearly associated labels and descriptive error messages
  • No content that flashes more than three times per second

Known Limitations

While we strive for full accessibility, some content on our website may not yet fully conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We are actively working to identify and address any gaps. Known areas we are working to improve include:

  • Some older PDF documents may not be fully accessible to screen readers — we are working to remediate these files
  • Third-party embedded content (such as Google Calendar) may have accessibility limitations outside our direct control

Assistive Technology Compatibility

Our website is designed to be compatible with common assistive technologies, including:

  • Screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver
  • Keyboard-only navigation
  • Browser zoom and text resizing up to 200%
  • High-contrast display modes
  • Voice recognition software such as Dragon NaturallySpeaking
